    Gua Sha Ritual

A gentle, step-by-step guide to practising Gua Sha at home. Learn the technique, understand the benefits, and build a calming facial massage ritual.

    What Is Gua Sha?

Gua Sha is a traditional facial massage technique using a smooth, flat tool - usually made from jade or rose quartz - to gently glide across the skin.

When practised regularly with gentle pressure, Gua Sha can help improve circulation, support lymphatic drainage, and leave the skin looking refreshed and radiant. It's a beautiful addition to any skincare ritual.

    Benefits of Facial Gua Sha

Stimulates blood circulation to the face

    Supports lymphatic drainage

    Reduces facial puffiness

Relieves tension in the jaw and forehead

    Encourages a natural, healthy glow

    Promotes relaxation and calm

    Preparing Your Skin

    1

    Cleanse your face thoroughly

    2

Apply a generous layer of facial oil or serum - this gives the tool glide

    3

Make sure your Gua Sha tool is clean

    4

Hold the tool at a 15-30° angle against the skin

    5

Always use gentle pressure - less is more

    Your Step-by-Step Routine

Work through each area slowly and mindfully. The whole routine takes 5-10 minutes.

    1

    Jawline

Start at the chin and sweep outward along the jawline toward the ear. Repeat 5-10 times on each side.

    2

    Cheeks

Glide from the side of the nose across the cheek toward the ear. Use gentle, slow strokes. Repeat 5-10 times.

    3

    Under Eyes

Very gently sweep from the inner corner of the eye outward toward the temple. Use the lightest pressure here.

    4

    Brow & Forehead

Move from the centre of the brow outward toward the hairline. Then sweep upward from the brows to the hairline.

    5

    Neck

Finish with gentle downward strokes from the jaw down the neck. This supports lymphatic drainage.

    Aftercare

    • Apply a hydrating serum or moisturiser
    • Drink plenty of water
    • Avoid heavy makeup for a few hours
    • Your skin may look flushed - this is normal

    Safety Tips

    • Always use facial oil for glide
    • Use gentle pressure only
    • Avoid broken, inflamed or sunburnt skin
    • Clean your tool after every use
    • Stop if you feel any discomfort

    How Often Should You Practise?

2-4 times per week is ideal for most people. Even a few minutes of gentle facial massage can help stimulate circulation and relax facial muscles. Consistency is more important than duration.
