    Frequently Asked
    Questions

    Treatments

How often should I have a facial?

Most people benefit from a facial every 4-6 weeks. Regular treatments help maintain skin health and keep your complexion looking its best.

Is Gua Sha suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes, the technique is gentle and can be adapted for different skin types. We always adjust pressure and technique to suit your skin's needs.

Do I need to prepare before my facial?

Arrive with clean skin if possible and avoid strong exfoliation 24 hours before your treatment. Otherwise, just come ready to relax.

What should I expect during my first visit?

We'll start with a brief consultation about your skin and any concerns. Then you'll be guided through a relaxing treatment tailored to your needs.

    Do your treatments include aromatherapy?

Yes, all Root & Moss facials are enhanced with carefully selected aromatherapy blends. These are chosen to support both your skin and your overall sense of calm and relaxation.

Will this help with stress or tension?

Root & Moss treatments are designed to support relaxation through slow, intentional touch and calming techniques. Many clients notice a reduction in facial tension and a greater sense of ease after their treatment.

Why is a consultation included with my first appointment?

Your first visit includes a complimentary in-depth consultation to understand your skin, lifestyle, and any areas of tension or concern. This allows your treatment to be tailored in a way that supports both your skin and your overall wellbeing. Read more about the consultation.

    Booking & Practicalities

How do I book a treatment?

You can book directly through our online booking and choose a time that suits you.

Do I need to arrive early for my first appointment?

For all first-time visits, a full 30 minute consultation is included before your treatment begins. When booking your first appointment, please add 30 minutes onto your treatment time to allow space for this consultation. On the day, please arrive 5 minutes early to settle in. Your email confirmation will outline your arrival time, consultation, and full treatment time clearly.

Will I receive a booking confirmation?

Yes. Once your booking is made, you will receive an email confirmation with all the details, including your arrival time, consultation (if it is your first visit), and full treatment time.

    What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Appointments are non-refundable within 24 hours of your scheduled time, as this allows us to offer your space to someone else.

    How long do treatments take?

Treatments are available as 60 or 90 minute rituals. For first-time visits, please add 30 minutes to your booking to allow for your consultation, and arrive 5 minutes early to settle in. You can view options and book via our online booking.

Can I claim my treatment through health or workplace insurance?

Root & Moss treatments incorporate professional aromatherapy techniques, and I am a full member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT). Depending on your provider and level of cover, you may be able to claim for treatments that include aromatherapy or are delivered by an FHT member.

Invoices can be provided upon request. As policies vary, please check directly with your insurer or workplace scheme to confirm eligibility before booking.

    Skin & Wellness

Why do I hold tension in my face and jaw?

Tension in the face and jaw can build over time through stress, habits, and daily pressure. Facial massage and slow, intentional touch can help soften these areas and encourage the body to relax more deeply.

What are the benefits of facial massage?

Facial massage can help improve circulation, reduce puffiness, and support lymphatic drainage, encouraging a natural, healthy glow. It can also help release tension held in the face, jaw, and shoulders, allowing the skin and underlying muscles to soften. With slow, consistent treatments, many clients find it supports a deeper sense of calm and helps the body settle into relaxation more easily.

    What are Ice Globes?

Ice Globes are cooling glass tools used during facial massage. They help reduce puffiness, tighten pores, calm inflammation and leave skin feeling refreshed.

Can I use Gua Sha at home?

Absolutely. Visit our guides & resources page for guided follow-along routines you can practise between treatments.
